This chimney stack extension improves one of the biggest issues we see with the Oklahoma Joe highland which is the draw. If you compare the chimney stack to say our Cactus Jack smokers, its much smaller in proportion to the smoker, we are unsure why the manufacturer does this but it makes fire management much more difficult.

The chimney stack is one of the most important parts to a smoker, its only job is to allow hot air out of the cook chamber and out, this draft mechanism is what pulls more heat from your fire.

Having a chimney stack too small will not allow the smoker to breathe, this will choke your fire and give you issues when trying to maintain a fire.

This smoke stack extension can be used for any offset cooker using a 3" OD smoke stack exhaust pipe

Nice quality piece of kit , improves the flow. Bought with the baffle plates , water tank and the flue lowering kit and impressed with all of it.

Amazing but lacks a protective coat

This is an amazing addon to get better control over the smoker. What I did not realise is it lacks a protective coating. My own fault really, wished it came painted to avoid that. Now I need to sand and paint it to match everything.

Poor quality

I'm very disappointed with the build quality of this item, it was purchased with the smoke stack lowering kit which is equally as poor.
The welds around the pipe were incomplete so I had to have a friend finish it off and tidy it up, the damper blade on the top did not fit as the pipe was pertruding by about 3mm on one side so I had to grind this flush.
To top it all off this thing isn't even straight!
It does do its job though, hence the extra star.
It looks like a home made job if I'm honest and essentially just an expensive length of 3" pipe with a few pieces botched on.

Makes fire management a lot easier

This stack extension makes a big difference to fire management in the OK Joe.

When I first ran my smoker I was struggling getting a consistent clean fire. I very rarely get a dirty fire now, and often it’s because a log is a little too moist or I haven’t allowed for enough airflow in the fire box and it’s being smothered. I bought this in addition to the Charcoal Basket and some fire insulation bricks (purchased elsewhere) which I slot in around the basket, and I routinely get a clean fire with thin blue smoke when burning oak. At a glance you might not even realise the smoker was running.

I sprayed mine with black BBQ paint and seasoned with PAM oil so it better matches the rest of the smoker. If you are using in conjunction with a weather cover, just remove the extension when done and store inside the cook chamber for the next cook.
